30 - Who are you?
As if words, phrases, or maybe a picture could truly capture someone’s essence. Or could tell you the story of who they are. Sure, they can tell you about the lines across their face, but not let you live them. Instead I’ll give you a grasp…
Born and raised as citizen of the World, I was taught to have an open mind, live free and be myself. Embracing these guidelines, I opened my heart and mind to accept the beauty that is the human, believing that everyone has pure goodness at our cores, corrupted by the negativity all around. We seem to be victims of the failures of those before us.
There was a time when I believed that acceptance by others had any value on defining how to live right, but now I know it is what you stand for. It is the energy you carry with you. It is the way you shine defending your morals. No computer can compute the correctness. No contraption can forge friendship or love in any way I experience. And if you (still) believe you know what feelings I am referring to.
All those that stood on the brink of death, or had the feeling they might be standing there in the near future know how to appreciate the one gift we all got without question, without the reluctance nature seems to pose on so many things.
Stop thinking you are not good enough to be alive or to live without someone you love. Start believing you are this awesome person, as only then you will be and you will be for someone else. And trust me when I tell you he or she needs it.
Confidence is not something you have to learn, because it already resides in each one of us, you just need to find it. It doesn’t matter if you are white, yellow, red, brown, black, or any color or are anorexic or having obesity, you are beautiful!
You are human, so you are special, as we all have this one special thing. This doesn’t people will stop and stare when you walk down the street. It doesn’t mean you can get whoever you like - this is shallow. It means you can change this world.
Life. Embrace it. Adore it. Stop wasting. Start living.

06 - Favourite super hero and why
Ok, I do not directly have a favourite, but there are a few I would like to mention. First of all I would like to mention that I have considered naming some from Kick-Ass, because they became my favourite heroes, but since these characters are more like humans dressed up (a.k.a. mystery man), I have to pick some other. So here are a few I like, in no particular order.
- Bumblebee (Transformers)
Look at him. Wouldn’t you say that he is stunning? Nonetheless, this car is not only a good car, he is a great romantic as well. I would not mind to be him, drive around by myself, doing what I like and kick some ass every now and then. Yes, this is one of my favourites. - Human Torch (Fantastic Four)
This one is simple. I always wanted to fly, and I am always on fire. So this would be a great compromise. Oh, and I get to be naked each time I fly when I don’t wear my suit. For free and without complaints. And on top of that, wouldn’t mind looking a bit like Chris Evans… - Hiro Nakamura (Heroes)
To be the master of time and space. Seriously? Of course this is probably my ultimate favourite. Apart from that he can do all the things I would like to (that is, to teleport and control the flow of time), I get to say “Save the Cheerleader, Save the World” and this is one of the only superheroes who does not seem to be gay.
So now you all know about the superheroes I like (and also would like to be). Off course, if Ash Ketchum was considered a superhero instead of a moron, he would definitely be in my list…

05 - A picture of somewhere you’ve been to
This picture was taken in the summer around 21:00, Ypenburg, The Netherlands. The sun was still quite high and it was really bright. However, because of the overwhelming lux coming from sun, the camera contrasted the surroundings dark, which resulted into this picture. No editing, just using my mobile phone.
Off course, other places worth mentioning on this hour of day (I could spend my life telling you about the places I went, but here we go for now…) are not those like Rome or Paris (where I have been too as well) but the little things. The fine stuff. Here you go!

04 - A habit that you wish you didn’t have
Somedays I just wish that I don’t always want to know what is going on exactly. Not only at the dentist, when he looks at my teeth, or the hospital when they they put on gel for the echo, or even at school, when some fact is given, I always need to know what is going on. Because of that I can be a little bit edgy and annoying as I keep asking until I understand. Whatever or I don’t care are not responses I can relate to.
As a result of this habit, the inevitable second bad habit of always wanting people to say the right thing emerges. If someone says 1+1 = 3 I simply can not shut up and think whatever. I have to make my point and tell ‘em it is 1+1 = 2. Not to lecture them per sé, but more because I am done with people spreading nonesense. When I say I know something, I do know it. But I am not afraid to apologize and take the blame when I am wrong (unlike a few years ago).

I do not believe there is a way I could post a picture with me and my friends, because my friends are in such different environments. However, I got a handful pictures where my best friends are included. So hope this satisfies the assignment. Enjoy!

02 - The meaning behind your Tumblr name
This one is not hard to do. My Tumblr name is derk-jan and it was chosen because that is my first name. There is nothing more to it. Off course I could tell you what Random Idiot stands for, but that is no interesting story either. When I started game making, I would always call myself a random idiot, because I was stubborn, did stuff the way it shouldn’t be done but was brilliant on random moments.

01 - A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself
This picture was taken on the 19th of July, which makes it at the time of blogging this post very recent. With a lot of friends I visited the Pink FunFair of Tilburg and we had a great time! I did some reconciliation with someone I did not expect I ever would, but it was the best thing I did in weeks. Also, did some dancing, did the super mouse coaster and off course a romantic overview on the Ferris Wheel. Still feeling great a bout it a few hours later.
The following facts are just 15 things about me - interesting hopefully - but not by definition ordered in any way or to be considered the 15 most interesting things there are to me. Here it goes!
